It’s pretty amazing the lengths that certain clinics are going to scare patients in their advertising. I recently came across a clinic online that advertises that “WE ARE THE ONLY CLINIC THAT OFFER NON-INCRIMINATING PATIENT FORMS”

They state on their website that by filling out a medical history form truthfully (DISCUSSING PRIOR CANNABIS USE) that you can incriminate your self and go to jail. That somehow this information will be held against you in a court of law.

THAT IS COMPLETE NONSENSE!

Today in Irvine I evaluated a 52 year old man who was diagnosed with TMJ (temperomandibular joint pain) syndrome. His symptoms included chronic pain at the joint and headaches. His pain also made it difficult for him to fall asleep. He had been self medicating with cannabis to not only decrease the pain when he has an attack but also stated that when he medicates with cannabis he is less likely to have an attack.

Over the past month I have had more than a few patients tell me that in addition to helping them with their symptoms, that their sex life has improved dramatically as a result of their cannabis use. Many couples get into a “rut” when it comes to sex. It becomes less and less frequent and even with couples that have sex regularly it can become “not as exciting”. What they described is that while they are medicated the sex becomes more intense, they tend to be less inhibited and frequency has gone up.

For the past month I have been treating a 62 y/o women for chronic pain that had been taking 18 pain killers every day. (12 oxycontin!) Not only did they stop working but they made her nauseated, constipated and feeling “loopy” all day. She told me that her life felt like she was out of control. Her pain management doctor spends 6 minutes with her and hands her a re-fill prescription for oxycontin. I am happy to report that after one month of using cannabis to treat her pain she is completely off opiate narcotics! Congratulations. I am glad you have control of your life again. There is hope!

Often patients ask me if I think Tax and Regulate is going to pass on the November ballot and what I think about it. The anser to those questions are:

1. I have no idea if it will pass. And if it does I believe that there will be ton of lawsuits contesting it and it will not go into law anytime soon.

Today I met with Steve in my Long Beach office. Steve is 62 and currently lives at the VA hospital in Long Beach. Steve is a Viet Nam war veteran and was living in a shelter prior to being admitted to the VA. The reason why he was in my office is because he was assaulted with a baseball bat and required emergency brain surgery. Obviously I’m sickened by how our Viet Nam vets were treated when they came back from the war but to see a guy like this get clobbered by a bunch of hoodlums is pretty unbelievable. Steve uses cannabis for chronic headaches as a result of his surgery.
