Ann marie,

It sounds like you should have your hormones checked by a doctor who specializes in bio-identicle hormone therapy. There are many things you can do naturally as well to eliminate your symptoms. The primary is to make sure your insulin levels are stable by eating small frequent meals throughout the day. Check our the book "Body For Life" by Bill Phillips. He presents a very practical way to set up your meal plans. Weight gain decreases a protein called Sex Hormone Binding Globulin which binds to circulating estrogen in the blood. If you reduce SHBG your free estrogen goes up and your estrogen dominant symptoms spike. Secondly, excess body fat increases the conversion of androgens (testosterone and androsteindione) to estrogen via an enzyme aromatase. So you can still have hormones out of balance even post menopause.

Lastly, you can only use marijuana legally if your state allows it. You can get a PO box in california, come get a temporary license and then purchase enough medicine to last you a while (other option).

Hope that helps.

I currently have tried three types of over the counter ways to alleviate hot flashes and night sweats, insomnia. with little success. Since I am not a resident of CA I wonders how one can get a prescription for medical marijuana. The first time 14 years ago I went through menopause sypmtoms after surgery. My ovaries are now shutting down and again the menopause has hit only 5x as bad.
Suffering greatly,

I started using marijuana after my hysterectomy. It really helped with my depression, anxiety, and my loss of sexual desire, and my insomnia

I tried medical marijuana for peri-menopause symptoms and it seems to really help me with my mood, activity level, sleep and everything. I am a former Cal. resident, a US citizen living outside of the USA. What is the procedure to get a prescription?
