No show-no call; missing your medical marijuana evaluation.
June 4, 2010One CommentUncategorized
As medical director for Medical Cannabis of Southern California (MCSoCal) I have 2 full time offices in Irvine and Long Beach and practice 5 days per week. One of the difficulties for medical professionals is scheduling patients and getting them in and out on time. I take great pride on my patients not having to wait hours upon hours to get seen and we work our best to make we get everyone in at their appointed time.
The reason I am blogging is because frequently we have patients who call and make an appointment and do not show up for it. Most of the time these patients do not pick up the phone do give us a call and let us know they can’t make it. For those of you who hate having to wait to see the doctor the reason is the medical field gets so many patients who blow off their appointments and do not call to cancel. What doctors offices end up having to do is double book to make sure their clinic days are full and they stay busy. This creates a whole other set of problems but the bottom line is that doctors need to stay busy to generate revenue in these crazy insurance laden days where reimbursement is so minimal for any given patient.
I guess if you are reading this and are one of the patients who just blows off your appointment without a courtesy call I would suggest in the future you have a little bit more respect for peoples time. We specifically hold and reserve that time for you. We tell other patients that they can’t be seen because we are booked solid and those patients have to wait. If you would simply call us and let us know we could then fill your spot with another patient.
In my young life of 36 years I understand why some people are successful and others aren’t. I do not feel bad about being successful because I regularly follow through with my responsibilities. I used to feel sorry for people who have less but now I realize that many people are where they are because of their own actions.
First step of being successful: TAKE 100% RESPONSIBILITY FOR WHERE YOU ARE IN YOUR LIFE.
