Today I took care of an 85 year old male patient with Guillain-Barre Syndrome. He came to me because he is wheelchair bound an has significant cramping and pain in his legs from being immobile. He had never tried medical marijuana but the pain medications he is taking are causing significant side effects and he “can’t take them anymore” He just wants an alternative to try and improve his quality of like. This post has nothing to do with medical marijuana but I was watching CNN tonight and there was a story about a law written by Florida politicians which would make it ILLEGAL for doctors to discuss gun safety with patients who have children in the house. Because the most common cause of death in patients aged 1-18 are accidents… pediatricians must focus on safety issues with parents. For example, using seat belts/car seats, securing swimming pools, house safety etc. They also will ask parents if there is a gun in the house… and if there is let them know about how easy it is for children to access them, pull the trigger and kill themselves or someone else. Makes sense right??? According to these asshole politicians, it should be a CRIME PUNISHABLE BY UP TO 5 YEARS IN PRISON AND UP TO A 5 MILLION DOLLAR FINE if pediatricians ask patients if they have a gun in the house

On behalf of my entire staff, I would like to take the opportunity to wish all our patients a HEALTHY AND MERRY CHRISTMAS!

It is my prayer this season that whatever you are suffering from you find healing in God’s love for each of you.

Enjoy your health, enjoy your families and give thanks for what you have.

Over the past year I have had 3 patients who have come to me for a medical marijuana recommendation because they found it reduced their symptoms of Trichotillomania. Trichotillomania is the urge and action of pulling out your hair. Patients will present with patches of balding on their scalp and other area of their body. It is a debilitating illness for many patients because of the social implications of being seen in public. All three of my patients had significant hair loss to the point where they wore wigs in public. Interestingly, they had been using medical marijuana and found that urge to pull their hair out was reduced considerably.

Lately it seems as if more and more of my patients are taking a “statin” drug to lower their cholesterol. Examples of these drugs are Lipitor and Zocor. I find it interesting that none of these patients were told that they should supplement with CoEnzyme Q10. In Europe if patients are prescribed a statin drug they are automatically given a recommendation to pick up CoQ10 and use it daily.

This goes to show you how behind the US is when it comes to understanding the nutrient depletion aspect of prescription medications and how little knowledge most doctors have about nutrition. READ ON.

I find it interesting that the US Government classifies marijuana as schedule 1; no medicinal value and highly addictive. Yet they own the patent for using cannabinoids as a antioxidant and neuro-protectant.

Yes you are reading this correctly: THE US GOVT. HAS PATENTED MEDICAL MARIJUANA. #6630507

LOOK IT UP AT THIS LINK: http://www.google.com/patents?id=0pcNAAAAEBAJ&printsec=abstract&zoom=4&source=gbs_overview_r&cad=0#v=onepage&q&f=false

The hypocrisy is hysterical. Why would the Government want to own a patent on a drug that has no medicinal value, is highly addictive and toxic?? READ ON:

In the past 3 years I have had the opportunity to sit down and take care of thousands of patients who are suffering and wanted to try medical marijuana to alleviate their symptoms. It has been a humbling experience. Every day I leave my office with an attitude of gratitude about my health. I often leave the office and communicate to God about how thankful I am for each breath of life He gives me. Lately I have been thinking a lot about the power of prayer and specifically whether or not to ask my patients if they would like me to pray for them. READ ON.

It’s pretty amazing the situation California workers are in right now. Unemployment is skyrocketing and now we find out that it can no longer pay out unemployment benefits and is borrowing from the federal government to support itself. Although no one can state with 100% confidence what the impact will be on the medical marijuana and marijuana community as a whole if it passes, many people in the medical marijuana community agree that it looks like a big set back. LET ME EXPLAIN.

Unfortunately there are not a lot of physicians in traditional practices who are even willing to discuss cannabis use with their patients, let alone provide a recommendation. For example at Kaiser they have a policy that doctors are not allowed to recommend cannabis. Most kaiser doctors dodge the question or reply to a patients inquiry by saying “if it works then Ok but I can help you with it.”

Despite President Obama’s word that the federal government would respect the rights of States who have medical marijuana laws and his attorney general’s comments that there would be no more raids on marijuana collectives… the raids continue. His promises are empty and he is spouting hot air out of his mouth. In fact the President has demonstrated on more than one occasion that he will ignore State’s rights. Just google “Arizona Immigration Policy and Laws”. READ ON…
