I use medical marijuana twice per day. Once when I wake up before I take my morning walk and once before I go to bed. I no longer use motrin or vicodin to treat my pain. I can finally sleep without having to take trazodone or ambien.

Medical marijuana provides me with the relief I need to enjoy the day. Yoga, walking and more time with my grandchildren once again!

My name is Greg and I am a medical marijuana patient. I am 47 years old and a father of 2 teenage daughters. I just lost my job and have no idea how I am going to continue to pay my mortgage and support my family. For the past 3 months I have not been able to fall asleep without taking 4 drinks of alcohol or pop an ambien. My health is deteriorating.

A friend of mine recently convinced me to try medical marijuana. For the first time in months I fell asleep and woke up feeling rested. I use cannabis indica 30 minutes prior to going to bed and sleeping 8 hours per night.

Medical marijuana is giving me my life back.

My name is Paul and I am a medical marijuana patient. I am a 27 year old high school math teacher who was diagnosed with testicular cancer. I am right in the middle of chemotherapy treatment and surviving because of marijuana.

I vaporize 3 times per day to relieve the nausea and improve my appetite. Although my oncologist would not recommend marijuana to me personally, he sent me to a doctor who would. I want to thank my local dispensary for being so compassionate. I know it will only be time before I start teaching again. I miss my students!

My name is Jennifer and I am a medical marijuana patient. I am a 20 year old student in my junior year at UC Irvine and suffer from migraine headaches. When I get a migraine I am completely debilitated. I can not attend class or study for exams.

The medications my doctors at Kaiser prescribe do not work. I no longer can tolerate vicodin and imitrex only works occasionally.

Since using medical marijuana two times per week I have reduced the frequency of my headaches considerably. When I get headaches marijuana allows me to fall right asleep and I wake up feeling much better. Medical marijuana has been a Godsend in my life.

I will graduate on time!

Medical marijuana is not what you think it is. Everyday people making educated decisions to take control of their health.

Today in Irvine I took care of a patients from all walks of life and with very different illnesses and complaints. Here is a sample of the types of patients that came in to see me today. Not all of them are terminally ill but they all have an improved quality of life as a result of using medical marijuana . If you are wondering if medical marijuana is right for you simply give us a call and come in.

A 67 year old man came in with his wife because he has no appetite as a result of chemotherapy to treat a bone marrow disease called Myelodysplastic Syndrome. It causes severe anemia in this patient and he requires blood transfusions every 2 weeks. Since September 2010 he has had no appetite and is losing weight. They were giving him marinol pills but they were not helping. He also has end stage kidney disease and is on dialysis 3x per week.

READ ON….

A 30 year old women who suffers from chronic anxiety which started after she lost her Dad. Her primary care physician had prescribed her Ambien and Xanax to cope with her symptoms but she was requiring 60 pills of each every month. Her sister started to notice that she was “shaky” all the time and is trying to help her stop taking so many pills. For the last month she has been using medical marijuana and has not taken a xanax or ambien since.

A 49 year old man who has chronic pain after having a cervical fusion in C3-4 and C4-5. He has been exclusively using medical marijuana to treat his pain since the surgery 2 years ago. Since seeing him last year he said he is better able to sleep and tolerate the pain.

A 56 year old man with chronic migraine headaches. He has been using cannabis for the past 15 years to treat his symptoms with good results.

A 59 year old man who is undergoing chemotherapy for head and neck cancer. The cancer has spread to his pelvic bones and he significant pain. He has been using cannabis since he was diagnosed exclusively to treat his pain and has not required narcotics.

A 60 year old man who lost his son (age 35) two weeks ago to an unknown illness. He has not been able to sleep since and does not want to take the xanax that his doctor prescribed. He says the medical marijuana is helping him sleep at night. ”It allows my mind to shut off when I want to go to bed.”

As you can see my patients are all at different stages of life and illness. Some are young, some are old and many are dying. But the one constant that I hear regardless of age or severity of illness is that marijuana “improves the quality of my life.”

For that I am grateful to be able to do what I do and feel blessed to be able to help them in any way.

As New Jersey tries to implement it’s medical marijuana program, the governor has made it clear what he really feels about it. Read this quote from the newly elected governor…Christie had said there are flaws with laws in some other jurisdictions, leading to situations where there is “”a head shop in every town and quack doctors writing prescriptions for people with headaches to get marijuana.‘ A find it pretty unbelievable that he label a physician who has the courage to recommend cannabis to a headache sufferer as a “quack”… especially since he has NO CLUE what he is talking about. READ ON…

It is times like these that I wish there truly was “karma”. If that were the case Governor Christy would develop severe migraines, his wife would develop breast cancer and his son would develop an opiate addiction secondary to taking oxycontin for pain. I would then wonder if he would try to derail New Jersey’s medical marijuana law. Would he still want to limit the concentration of cannabinoids and hence its potency? Would he outlaw the ability for collectives to deliver medicine to a terminally ill patients home? Would he try and limit the ability to grow it to one or 2 locations in the state? I HIGHLY doubt it.

To the contrary, medical marijuana would be accessible to every patient in need… probably yesterday. He would be searching the most potent strain he could find and for the cheapest price. His family would have the largest personal grow in the State.

But like most politicians, he is a pussy. He is too afraid of what his constituents are going to say out of fear of losing re-election… and in turn is being dishonest.

I PROMISE you that is the Governor had a migraine that was not effective treated with Imitrex, Maxalt, Tylenol, Motrin,, Vicodin etc… he would be the first appointment in my office tomorrow morning. And he would be begging for relief so that he can actually function.

So I guess I take some offense to being called a “quack” for recommending cannabis to headache patients. It is just frustrating professionally because I get to hear from hundreds of patients every month about how their lives have been changed for the better because of this plant.

Governor Christy you suck. New Jersey will go backwards under your “leadership”.

I’m probably much easier to reach than you are. Feel free to give me a call at 877-721-0047 and I would happy to enlighten you.

As medical director for Medical Cannabis of Southern California I often evaluate patients who complain of vertigo to see if cannabis can help with their symptoms and improve the overall quality of their life.

Vertigo is the sensation of spinning or swaying while the body is actually stationary. In most cases it is a symptom as a result of a primary disease process. Most of the time it is caused by malfunctions in the inner ear or vestibular system. Common causes are infections, Migraine headaches, Meniere’s disease labyrinthitis, benign positional vertigo and a host of other disease processes. On a physiological level there are multiple neurotransmitters (chemical messengers) which play a role in vertigo. The dizziness can lead to nausea and vomiting which is very debilitating.

Yesterday I evaluated a 49 year old male who has been experiencing chronic intermittent vertigo for the past three years. He suffered from regular nausea and vomiting. It affected his appetite and he had been losing weight as a result of poor nutrition. The battery of tests that his doctor ordered failed to identify the exact cause. The treatment plan had been to try traditional medications. He had been given anti-histamines, SSRI’s like fluoxetine (prozac), gabapentin (Neurontin) and valium. None of these had given him any relief and he suffered from many side effects as a result.

One month prior to my evaluation he had been given cannabis by a family friend in the midst of one of his attacks where he was severely nauseous. To his amazement it almost completely eliminated his nausea and he regained his appetite. As a result he worked up the courage to come to my office to see if he qualified under California’s proposition 215 which gives patients the right to cultivate, possess and transport cannabis in california.

Upon evaluation I determined that the benefits of trying cannabis far outweigh the risks. He left yesterday with a recommendation and went to purchase medicine within 5 minutes of leaving my office. I was very encouraged by his feedback and look forward to following up with him in a few months.

If you would like more information about cannabis to see if it can improve the quality of your life please visit our website at www.MCSoCal.com or call our professional staff at 877-721-0047. Dr Sean Breen has two offices located in Orange County and Long Beach and see patients daily.

As medical director for Medical Cannabis of Southern California I routinely evaluate patients who suffer from severe and debilitating migraine headaches. Their complaints range from intractable pain to severe nausea and photophobia. Many patients are unaware of the incredible anti-emetic (nausea) properties of cannabis. Within minutes of inhaling cannabis, patients report an almost complete elimination of any nausea. In addition because cannabinoids bind to receptors on nerve cells it also functions as an analgesic (pain relief). Lastly, because cannabis can function as a sedative, most patients report being able to fall asleep without difficulty. Because cannabis functions as an anti-emetic, analgesic and sedative it is an ideal treatment for migraine headaches. Cannabis also has very few side effects. It is not toxic to any of the major organ systems and is well tolerated by most patients.

Did you know that you can medicate with marijuana without smoking it? Vaporizers were developed by patients who want the advantage of inhaling the medicine (immediate absorption and fast onset of action) without the risks of smoking. Vaporizers work by heating the plant to temperatures below the point of combustion (approximately 360 degrees) and evaporating the medically active ingredients off the surface of the leaf. The plant matter itself is not burned and left intact while all the THC and other cannabinoids are inhaled. Patients are left with a smoke free vapor to inhale directly into their lungs. In my practice I recommend using the Easy Vape Digital Hands Free vaporizer. It is cost effective and very simple to use.

Medical Cannabis of Southern California provides cannabis evaluations for patients in California who qualify under Proposition 215 to use medical marijuana. With clinics located in Long Beach, Irvine and Encinitas we see patients across southern California. Patients can pre-qualify for free from the comfort of their home by visiting our website at www.mcsocal.com If you would like to make an appointment you can reach our director of clinics at 877-721-0047.
